This webinar will showcase results from research with Canadian teens (13-18) about their exposure to authentic violence, gore, and extremist content. It will share insights about the kinds of content they are seeing, where they see it, and the responses and supports they want to prevent or mitigate this.
About the Speaker
Dr. Kaitlynn Mendes, PhD, is a Sociology Professor at Western University, where she also holds the Canada Research Chair in Inequality and Gender. She also leads the DIY: Digital Safety project which has gathered information from over 2,000 Canadian teens about their experiences of online harm. Kaitlynn has been doing this work for over a decade and is passionate about taking this knowledge to make digital spaces safer for everyone.
