Below is a list of our current Community Agency Internship Program project opportunities. If you are a scholar interested in applying to the program but you don’t see a project that’s right for you, submit an application anyways — the right project might be around the corner, and we can match you with the opportunity when it presents itself!
Alternatively, explore if the AVA Triadic Mentorship Program is the right fit for you — you could have the opportunity to co-design an internship project with your mentors!
This project involves better understanding the relationship between domestic violence in Alberta and disasters, including both environmental disasters and pandemics. For this project, we would ask the intern to conduct a literature review and environmental scan of best practices for communicating with survivors in the context of different disasters.

This project is a continuation of ACWS’ Lift Her Up project. ACWS created Lift Her Up in response to ongoing violence against women in politics. We have already published a Power and Control Wheel for Women in Political Office. The next step in the project is to build a corresponding Equity and Accountability Wheel. For this project, the intern would conduct a literature review of best practices for building gender equity and accountability in politics.

The Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA BC) is currently undertaking a research project with our provincial partners focused on sexual exploitation of youth. In many cases, these youth have been unwilling or unable to seek health care or other support services, feel safe cooperating with police, or separate from the violent relationship. EVA BC has explored literature related to the topic, and we are working with provincial partners to conduct focus groups with anti-violence and youth-serving organizations regarding this phenomenon. We are hoping to work with an intern who has training, experience, and skills related to qualitative data analysis, as well as literature reviews and report writing. The start date would be October 1, 2023, and we would be looking at a 10-20 hour/week internship for 3 months (October-December 2023), followed by a possible 10 hour/week internship for 3 months (January-March 2024).
The focus of the research is on current knowledge, promising practices and existing system gaps as they relate to the experience of female-identifying youth who face intimate partner violence (IPV) (emotional, physical and sexual) perpetrated by older partners. A report will be prepared based on the findings of the literature review and focus groups.
For over 25 years Envision has been dedicated to improving the lives that live in Southeast Saskatchewan. Our geographical regions spans 29,000 km2 supporting over 50,000 people including 30 RM’s, 3 First Nation bands, Treaty 2 and Treaty 4 territories, the traditional Homeland of the Métis, and 0 transition homes. Our region is in need of safe emergency lodging. Our communities and partners are in support of our pursuit for a safe transition home away from violence & adversity. The risk of further harm occurring could be mitigated by completing a feasibility assessment and eventually, the creation of a safe housing option. We are currently facilitating a Needs Assessment in our geographic service delivery area, which includes distributing a survey regarding our programs and seeking feedback on any gaps in services in our region. Part of our Strategic Plan is determining the need for the creation of a DV Shelter in our corner of the province.
