In a recent UCalgary News article, Lana Wells, associate professor in UCalgary’s Faculty of Social Work, Brenda Strafford Chair in the Prevention of Domestic Violence and AVA member, explains how a lack of affordable housing is creating a dangerous situation for women fleeing abusive relationships; “Affordable housing is critical for women who are experiencing domestic violence or intimate partner violence, and it’s just another risk factor that keeps people in dangerous relationships because they have nowhere to go.”
