Statement on the attack at the University of Waterloo campus

It is with sadness and solidarity that the Alliance against Violence & Adversity (AVA) stands with those impacted by the violent and targeted attack on University of Waterloo faculty and students on June 28.

Our thoughts are with the survivors of the attack, their families and the greater University of Waterloo community of students, faculty and staff as well as all women, girls and gender-diverse individuals impacted by gender-based violence and hate. RESOLVE Alberta condemns all forms of sexual and gender-based violence and discrimination perpetrated against individuals based on their gender identity or gender expression and recognizes the trauma caused by this violence. As gender-based violence and hate continues to be a national problem, RESOLVE Alberta renews its commitment to reducing the incidence and impact of gender-based violence through research, education and awareness.
