Description

Local Elder Abuse Networks in Ontario are community-based collaboratives supported by Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario (EAPO) to prevent elder abuse and neglect. Comprised of local service providers, volunteers, and older adults themselves, these networks work at the grassroots level to raise public awareness, deliver education and outreach events, advocate for stronger supports, and coordinate agency efforts to respond to cases of elder abuse. Each network tailors its prevention strategies to meet local needs, and brings significant concerns back to EAPO or relevant bodies to ensure systemic barriers are addressed. By fostering partnerships across sectors and engaging community members directly in advocacy and service delivery, these networks build a robust provincial infrastructure that strengthens both preventive and responsive capacity around elder abuse in Ontario.
