Description
The Family Support Program works with families referred exclusively through Child and Family Services, where children have been identified as being in need of protection. Participation is mandated, and Family Support Workers stay involved as long as Child and Family Services identifies a need.
This program is designed to enhance child safety and family stability by reducing risks that may threaten children’s well-being, allowing them to safely remain in their homes or facilitating reunification when removal has occurred. It fosters safe parent-child connections through supervised visits and structured family time, while promoting positive parenting practices, healthy child development, and overall family stability. In addition, the program provides advocacy, practical support, and connections to community resources to address barriers such as poverty, addiction, interpersonal violence, or household instability. Participation involves in-home visits, parenting guidance, supervision of family time, transportation, and ongoing advocacy. Families engage with the program for as long as Child and Family Services identifies a need, with the overarching goal of creating safe, nurturing, and stable family environments while strengthening parent-child relationships.
