Description
Children at Dixon offers compassionate and structured support for children who have been affected by IPV and are residing at Dixon House or Wenda’s Place. This program is led by child support workers who create a safe and nurturing environment where children can play, learn, and begin to heal from the trauma they’ve experienced. Activities such as arts and crafts, storytelling, baking, outdoor play, and games are designed to provide routine, joy, and creative expression. The program also includes practical assistance with school enrolment, homework help, and support for transitions into new educational settings. Child Support Workers work closely with mothers to help address behavioral challenges through consistent boundaries and respectful communication. Children are given individualized attention, including birthday celebrations and participation in special summer activities like picnics, barbecues, and field trips. Through this holistic approach, the program supports children’s emotional well-being, helping them regain a sense of normalcy, stability, and self-worth in a time of significant change.
