Transforming Health for Women & Girls at Risk

HERHealth is a podcast by AVA that empowers women, girls, and gender-diverse people to take charge of their health and well-being. Hosted by Dr. Nicole Letourneau, AVA Scientific Director, Dr. Sarah Yercich and friends, the podcast highlights the health impacts of violence and adversity through research, expert insights, and lived experiences.
Dr. Sarah Yercich is an early career researcher with AVA, Co-Director of the FREDA Centre for Research on Violence Against Women, and a faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at Capilano University.
The HERHealth podcast is guided by Alexandria Lozowchuck, a master’s student in Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary, specializing in Public and Population Health.
Each episode explores real-world challenges, community-driven solutions, and the ongoing work to improve health outcomes and break cycles of violence. As part of AVA’s mission, HERHealth fosters awareness, advocacy, and change to support those most at risk.
