The Scientific Assistant supports the work of the Scientific team in translating complex science of brain development to mobilize transformative system shifts in policy and practice to support the foundations of all health. The Scientific Assistant supports administrative coordination, data analysis, evidence review, and the development of high-quality, accessible resources that can be applied across sectors and at the individual, organizational, and systems levels. Working under the supervision of more senior scientific staff, this role helps ensure the smooth execution of day-to-day project activities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in scientific work.

The Elbow River Healing Lodge is seeking an intern to assist with an evaluation of their Indigenous and perinatal mental health trauma stabilization group. Special considerations include addictions, intergenerational trauma, and culturally sensitive care, in addition to father’s addiction and mental health needs. The intern should have an understanding of trauma-informed practice, culturally safe care and practices, and community-based practices.

The Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA BC) is currently undertaking a research project with our provincial partners focused on sexual exploitation of youth. In many cases, these youth have been unwilling or unable to seek health care or other support services, feel safe cooperating with police, or separate from the violent relationship. EVA BC has explored literature related to the topic, and we are working with provincial partners to conduct focus groups with anti-violence and youth-serving organizations regarding this phenomenon. We are hoping to work with an intern who has training, experience, and skills related to qualitative data analysis, as well as literature reviews and report writing. The start date would be October 1, 2023, and we would be looking at a 10-20 hour/week internship for 3 months (October-December 2023), followed by a possible 10 hour/week internship for 3 months (January-March 2024).
The focus of the research is on current knowledge, promising practices and existing system gaps as they relate to the experience of female-identifying youth who face intimate partner violence (IPV) (emotional, physical and sexual) perpetrated by older partners. A report will be prepared based on the findings of the literature review and focus groups.
For over 25 years Envision has been dedicated to improving the lives that live in Southeast Saskatchewan. Our geographical regions spans 29,000 km2 supporting over 50,000 people including 30 RM’s, 3 First Nation bands, Treaty 2 and Treaty 4 territories, the traditional Homeland of the Métis, and 0 transition homes. Our region is in need of safe emergency lodging. Our communities and partners are in support of our pursuit for a safe transition home away from violence & adversity. The risk of further harm occurring could be mitigated by completing a feasibility assessment and eventually, the creation of a safe housing option. We are currently facilitating a Needs Assessment in our geographic service delivery area, which includes distributing a survey regarding our programs and seeking feedback on any gaps in services in our region. Part of our Strategic Plan is determining the need for the creation of a DV Shelter in our corner of the province.

Stardale Women’s Group Documentation & Curriculum intern:
This position involves two key responsibilities for Stardale Women’s Group Inc., a Charity, as outlined below.
First, the specialist will document and catalog the organization’s historical projects, focusing on arts-based initiatives that follow the Stardale model for violence and abuse prevention among Indigenous girls and women.
Second, the specialist will develop comprehensive curriculum materials based on Stardale’s successful Indigenous youth suicide prevention projects. This curriculum will incorporate the Four Directions framework while transforming existing programs into structured educational activities that provide practical tools for youth suicide prevention.
The ideal candidate will be able to honor Indigenous methodologies while creating engaging, empowering resources for youth.
This is an 8-month contract position (April 1 – December 1, 2025) with a monthly fee for service of $6,000.

This project seeks to build a collaborative System of Care between women’s shelters, emergency service providers, and community organizations. This System of Care will ensure that those who need shelter get a space, and those whose risk can be managed in the community are cared for as well. An accurate assessment of an individuals’ risk to imminent harm is key in the success of the System of Care. Therefore, we are seeking to develop an imminent risk assessment tool.
As the ShelterLink Intern, you will be responsible for completing a systematic literature review that will identify and examine validated measures of imminent risk and offer recommendations for interview questions and process to consider for inclusion in the newly developed and utilized ShelterLink Assessment Tool. The intern will have the opportunity to work with Waypoint Research Institute staff on a SSHRC-funded knowledge mobilization project. The student will be involved in website and graphic design, curating and supporting a social media campaign, and assisting in planning a community event scheduled for August 2025. Under the supervision of the project’s principal investigator, the student will work closely with Waypoint’s communication department and Knowledge Translation and Implementation Coordinator.
