Join Us on April 30th for the Next AVA Webinar, Co-Hosted by the FREDA Centre for Research on Violence Against Women and Children

How Paramedics Can Care For and Support Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence: A Unique Opportunity to Activate an Underutilized Resource

About the Webinar:

Paramedics often supersede the emergency department as the first point of contact for survivors of intimate partner violence seeking healthcare, support, and resources. However, paramedics in Canada are not well situated to provide survivors with what they need. This webinar will provide an engaging look into the state of the intersection of Canadian paramedicine and intimate partner violence, and explore the opportunity for paramedics to act as expert resource!

Featuring:

Rory A. Marshall, a PhD Candidate at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, specializes in intimate partner violence and paramedicine. With extensive academic credentials and clinical experience, Marshall conducts research to enhance clinical practices for survivors of intimate partner violence. He also serves as a paramedic for Alberta and British Columbia Health Services, and holds key appointments in paramedic research and violence prevention initiatives. Additionally, Marshall instructs at the Justice Institute of British Columbia and contributes to peer review and evidence appraisal in his field.
